#APQuiltalong

I started working on this quilt about a a week ago, and thought I should post about it to keep myself accountable. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it, in this Feb 2014 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine. When I got going, though, I found it's truly "outside my box." I'm having great difficulty making it as scrappy as the original, as you can see. I'm just going to process along and see what happens. The quilts people are making are looking very different from one another~

  1. Here's a challenge for you Paula- since it looks like you haven't sewn everything together yet try mixing up the pieces. Take a background piece from one and swap it with a block on another row. Take another piece from said block and repeat with a different block. Keep going until most are swapped around. Take pictures w your phone as you go if you want to remember it at a particular stage. You can do the same with the main color in each block as well but you certainly wouldn't have too. That said, it's lovely the way it is.

  2. Hi Paula. I am getting ready to start this QAL, and I am not going to make mine as scrappy as some of these are. Did you look at Carrie Nelson's? Hers is quite orderly - red and cream. Beautiful, too. You have the freedom to be as scrappy or as controlled as you like. I do like how yours is looking. You have a beauty on your hands!
